To Podlesák for a Swim and to See the Deer

23. 7. 2025

If you're looking for a great spot to swim in nature, Podleský Pond in the Říčanka Nature Park is an ideal choice. Located on the border of Dubeč and Uhříněves, it's the second largest pond in Prague. Its history dates back to the 16th century, but today it's mainly used for fishing or summer refreshment.
Podlesák offers several grassy beaches hidden among trees and bushes, or you can swim from the dam side. Entry is free, and on a hot summer day, you'll surely enjoy the cool water. Families with children will also appreciate the playground right next to the pond.
And if you love animals, don’t forget to stop by the nearby farm where deer are bred. You’ll see not only European red deer but also rare Père David's deer. These majestic creatures are monitored by scientists using GPS collars and chips to track their movement and behavior. While we only spotted one Père David’s deer, you might get luckier.
A trip to Podlesák is a great way to enjoy a day in nature—whether you’re in the mood for a swim or some wildlife watching.
