Šesták Rock and the Džbán Gorge
7. 4. 2026
Šárka Valley is practically on your doorstep, so it is well worth exploring the route around Šesták Rock and the Džbán Gorge. A pleasant walk awaits you, with views of the Džbán reservoir and a quieter part of the valley where the wild character of the local landscape really stands out.
From Rezidence U Šárky, head through the underpass beneath Evropská Street towards the Zlodějka orchard. From there, continue along the asphalt path, turn right at the junction, and after about one kilometre turn left across the meadow and gently uphill to Šesták Rock. From the rock, there is a lovely view of Džbán, which covers 13 hectares and is one of the notable recreational spots in this part of Prague.
You can then continue through the Džbán Gorge towards the swimming area and follow the unpaved path on the left back to the Zlodějka orchard, and then return to the residence. The whole area of Divoká Šárka has been protected since 1964 and is known for its deep valley, carved by the Šárecký Stream into hard quartzite rock. This is exactly what gives this part of Prague its unexpectedly natural and wild feel.
