Trip: Klíčovské orchards
25. 6. 2025
Just a short distance from your homes, on the site of a former vineyard, the Klíčovské Orchards were established in the 1950s and 60s. Over time, particularly since the late 1980s, the area became overgrown—but with the arrival of the new millennium, a gradual restoration began.
Today, the orchards are lovingly maintained by people experiencing homelessness, who care for the fruit trees, bees, goats, sheep, and the daily operation of the grounds. They are happy to guide you through the area, showing you where apricots, apple trees, and walnut trees grow, and where the animals graze.
You can enjoy a picnic at designated spots or simply stroll under the tree canopies. During harvest season, you can even pick your own fruit.
One of the orchard’s unique features is a public fruit-drying hut. All you need to do is gather fallen branches, light a fire, and let your sliced fruit dry on racks for one to two days.
The round trip is about 4 kilometers, making it easily manageable even for small children. However, the route is not suitable for strollers, as only a narrow dirt path winds through the orchards.
