From Harfa to Smetánka: a short walk even for the little ones
16. 3. 2026
If you are looking for a short and easy route for a trip with children, the walk from Harfa Park to Smetánka Hill is an ideal choice. This route takes you through the picturesque meanders of the Rokytka River, where you can cross a wooden footbridge or watch water birds.
A little further past the meanders, you will come across a children’s playground and an outdoor gym – the perfect place for kids to let off steam while adults can stretch and exercise. From there, we turn left, cross the Rokytka, and climb about 60 metres up to Smetánka Hill, where a view of the surrounding landscape opens up before us.
On the way back, we can stop for an ice cream at the Pod Smetánkou bistro, and so that we do not return the same way, we can take the stairs from U Schodů Street to connect to Mezitraťová Street. Here, we come across Jiránek Villa, a place with a long history. From 1923, Ladislav Jiránek ran a confectionery and chocolate business here. His brother, Antonín Jiránek, brought an artistic spirit to the villa and enriched both its exterior and interior with works of art. After being expropriated, the building fell into disrepair for many years, and it was not until after 2006 that it was reconstructed and converted into housing.
