Chuchelský Grove: Animals, Nature, and Scenic Views

8. 7. 2025

Chuchelský Grove offers an ideal combination of fun for kids, natural beauty, and historical sights. In just one day, you can visit the animal residents of the local zoo corner, enjoy scenic views of the Vltava River, and explore the charm of the surrounding nature.

The whole trip is about seven kilometers long and is manageable even with a stroller.

We’ll start our outing at the charming zoo corner in Malá Chuchle, where you can see fallow deer, foxes, nutrias, kestrels, and other animals up close. The zoo also serves as a rescue station for injured animals and abandoned young ones that have found a new home here. The best part? Entry is free and not time-restricted, so you can enjoy your visit without any rush.

After exploring the zoo corner, you can stop by the nearby children’s playground or head straight to the next stop on the route.

Following the paths through Chuchelský Grove, we’ll arrive at the Baroque Church of St. John of Nepomuk, whose construction began in 1729 and was only completed between 1846 and 1849. The interior features Baroque furnishings, and the church sits on a picturesque hill between Malá and Velká Chuchle. Just behind it, you’ll find a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the Vltava River and Prague.

On the way back, we’ll stop at another playground that also offers seating and a great spot for a picnic.
