Queen Dagmar – A Czech Princess
We invite you to a travel lecture dedicated to an extraordinary woman of both Czech and Danish history.
Dagmar, originally a Czech princess of the Přemyslid dynasty, became a beloved Danish queen remembered to this day in ballads as a symbol of kindness, justice, and compassion for the weak. The lecture will explore her life story, her journey from the Czech lands to Northern Europe, and the powerful legacy she left behind in Denmark.
The story of Queen Dagmar will be presented by Zdeněk Lyčka, former Czech ambassador to Denmark, who has personally followed her footsteps, including a journey by sea kayak. You will also learn about commemorations of the anniversary of her death and the symbolism of the small cross that has become a lasting tradition.
